Good point Keith. Thanks for mentioning CWOps organization. I just read that they are encouraging CW Advisors to work with students/newbies on 7.035 MHz every day. You can click on this link to read more about this program http://www.cwops.org/cwa-aota.html .
So, anyone one wanting to get some practice operating CW should call CQ near that frequency or listen to the QSOs. 40 meters is a great band for practicing CW. Lots of very patient operators who will slow down to your speed. The emphasis is DAILY practice. I found few who would actually do the practice between training sessions. Maybe the solution is daily sessions? 😊 73, Keith NM5G CW Academy Level 2 grad From: tdxs-list [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of NIzar Mullani Sent: Thursday, April 13, 2017 11:39 AM To: [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> ; [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> Cc: 'Mike Hardwick' <[email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> > Subject: [tdxs-list] CW article in the May QST issue on Learning CW The May issue of QST has a really good write up on learning CW on page 74. It pretty much describes most of the slides I was going to present at the BVARC meeting. The only difference is that instead of using fldigi for CW training, I used CWtext on the phone. The phone app allows me to listen to CW practice while driving or when away from a computer. The other difference is my recommendations for learning CW contesting with Morse Runner and RufzXP. These two programs help coordinate hearing and typing of call signs. I have found these two programs very useful in improving my CW speed. So, based on this new publication, there is no need for me to present my planned talk. I would like to reinforce the need for daily practice and following the recommendations described in the QST article. Nizar K0NM
