Thanks Scott for your patience and conversations with my granddaughter, Ryley,
who is 8.5 years old. She saw me operate the CW contest and wanted to speak in
the microphone. So, I set up the SSB portion and wrote down what she had to
say. I did the logging for her of course.

She made 24 QSOs calling CQ. Not bad for a first time effort. The hams she made
contacts with were very nice and patient. Some of them even had some
discussions with her about her school etc. It was a great experience for her.
Thanks to everyone who worked her.

Subject: [BVARC] TEXAS QSO Party....

A great time this weekend operating the Texas QSO party, collecting Texas
Counties and made a few new friends along the way. Then again, that’s what it
is all about. My meager station operated mostly on 40 with an S-8 or better
noise level all weekend but managed to beat my previous best score by more than
expected, so I reached my goal. Adjusting RF Gain helped immensely.

I even had a GREAT QSO on 2 bands with a VERY smart YL using the call N0NM.
What a surprise! Also heard K5IZO so there were a few BVARC members on the air
in addition to Jeff and me.

Comments:

Enjoy all QSO parties especially the Texas one. The Bands were rough with high
noise on 40m, but that is where you picked up Texas counties. 15m opened
briefly, but only DX there.
