Frankly, there are three 'better' ways to go for a new speaker:
1. Order either the appropriate Icom speaker through the Plano, Tx. or other
corporate dealer ( check QST magazine in the advertiser's index ).
2. Or order the Yaesu Speaker with the square red button for filtering out the
higher-frequency noises. This should cost around $55.00 ( yet is well worth it
for many Kenwood mobile TM-D700a owners ).
3. or Call ahead on the telephone to River Oaks Car Stereo ( they install
amateur radios ) and ask them what they have.

The worst way: Order something that seems to be the right 'ohms' in an external
case. Many are not mobile 'communications grade' and could result in poor
sound, or even a short circuit when mobile.
Next worst way: Use a Motorola external speaker of the variety that has more
than two leads without regard for the internal amplifier power. Many newer ones
require voltage to produce any audible sound.

Subject: [BVARC] Icom IC-208h mobile speaker

Good evening,

Tomorrow I plan on doing an installation of my Icom IC-208h in my SUV.
Looking over all I have, I'm missing the external speaker. I had one of the old
metal Motarola speakers but like a lot of things it's got itself lost. So
before I ran off and bought something I thought I'd ping the reflector and see
if anyone had one that's looking for a new home. Failing that, any suggestions
for a good one that's a good value!

Thank you,
