Most of the operators are very patient with newbies. All you have to do is
send QRS (slow down) and they will drop to 17 wpm or lower until you copy
them.

The mission of the CWOPS people is to encourage the use of CW. So, they have
developed advanced CW teaching methods that eliminate the dits and dahas to
learning the sounds of a letter. Once you do that, you are already at about
17 wpm recognition if there is a long space between the letter sounds.

The new method bypasses the Miserable Old Method of learning CW by dits and
dahs. You jump directly into the fun part of CW learning.

Phil, W2OBZ, and Dan, KS5V, can probably explain better their experiences
with CWOPS CW classes.

People are operating between 20 and 24 WPM in the slow speed contest?

Phil just finished Level 1 CWOPS CW class and participated in the CWOPS slow
speed CW contest on Wednesday. He made 8 QSOs with most of the hams
operating at between 20 and 24 wpm.

Congratulations Phil. Excellent Job. As a member of BVARC, I am very proud
of your accomplishment.
