Although born in Dallas, John considered himself a Houstonian, as his family moved here when he was in preschool. He graduated from San Jacinto High School and received his BS degree from Texas A&M University in 1959. He earned his JD at South Texas College of Law in 1963. After practicing law for several years he became a Certified Professional Landman, a career which lasted more than 30 years. He was a man of many interests. He held the highest class of amateur radio license, and was a volunteer examiner for HAM radio testing for many years. He also held a commercial broadcaster's license, a private pilot's license, and a commercial driver's license with hazardous materials certification. He and his wife enjoyed HAM radios, building computers and gardening together. Among his many friends he was known for his independence, intelligence and loyalty. After a private family burial in La Grange, TX, we welcome friends and family to a memorial service in celebration of his life this Friday, January 26th at 1pm at the Unitarian Fellowship of Houston, 1504 Wirt Road.
