Research examines effect of diabetes on cognitive decline

A study in Diabetologia showed that patients with prediabetes or diabetes
had a faster cognitive decline than those without the conditions.
Researchers used a cohort of 5,189 individuals who participated in the
English Longitudinal Study of Ageing between 2004 and 2015 and found that
those with diabetes at baseline tended to have lower memory and executive
functioning, higher body mass index and increased blood pressure and
cardiovascular disease risk, compared with those with normoglycemia.
