Good learning experience. Next time, you will have a mental list to go through 
to make sure everything is right before the contest starts. 

 

The other thing is that 40 meters at 2 pm is not the best band to be on, 
especially with 5 watts. 20 meters is probably the best.

Lets just say it wasn't a stellar performance, the QSB was bloody awful, and I 
was half way through it before I realized I was transmitting only 5 watts   :-(
