I am sad to report that long time club member Melvin G. "Mel" Thatcher became a Silent Key Friday July 6th, 2018. Mel was an avid HF'er working with Bill Todd-Brown years ago on late night 17 Meter propagation studies, which lead to his 30 year on-air friendship with Moz, VK3CWB. Mel was awarded the Loop and Zepp Award in 1990 for his work with quad loops and Bobtail Curtains.
Visitation and services will be held on Wednesday July 11th at 10AM - Noon, with burial at noon at Woodlawn Funeral Home at 1101 Antoine, just north of I-10. I will post a link to his obituary once placed on line. Please pass this onto anyone that might have known Mel in his years as a club member. 73....Rick -- W5RH
