I found the Koss SB40 to be the exact same product (less the bias battery pack)
as the Yamaha CM500. At only $29.00 each, it is quite a deal, especially at
half the price. FYI. The bias battery pack is needed for some radios, but not
the K3.

I received a report that there was a volume difference between different types
of headsets plugged into the same radio via the Y-adapter. Most likely the
cheap headsets were less sensitive than the better ones, but I don’t know the
specifics. Hopefully we can find those headsets that I purchased for the club
several years ago. If not, we’ll need to purchase some more, which could be
split up between the clubs. I would like to see two headsets at each radio, for
mentors and the less experienced ops to each use. Perhaps we wouldn’t need them
at the digi radios, though. The Koss and Yamaha units above are also far more
comfortable than the cheap ones I bought. If each club bought two sets, that
would cover all CW and SSB positions, since some people will bring their own.
We do need to post a rule, though, that headsets must remain at each radio
position.

Mike,

Who can check our inventory of headsets and y-adapter? I think we may need to
purchase some more.
