When I plug in the cat cable the serial ports go nuts and the cable does not work to operate the yaesu 450d from the computer. I have two usb slots on the front of the computer with one already being used by a usb to serial adapter going to my rig blaster nomic and that cable works and it uses a serial port. It is specific to west mountain radio and the rig blaster. Apparently the other cable I bought must be a cheap knockoff that is out there on eBay so I am wondering if I spend $30 for a yaesu specific cable will it work or will the com ports go crazy. Also I can plug a flash drive into one of the two usb slots and it works fine but I don’t think a flash drive is accessing a com port so my big issue is that I need the right cable or com that will make the computer work the radio.
