Thanks for everyone’s input.
Walter K5WH was generous to send me a code plug that is quite comprehensive.  I
am starting to understand the amount of effort that’s needed to build one and
customize our preferences.  I’m going to use Walter’s  creation to learn from
and then modify for my needs as I get a better grasp on potential use.
I was finally able to make a contact through the Transtar Repeater to the North
American TG.  Need to see what other DMR repeaters are accessible from the
southwest  of Houston with the mobile and roof antenna.
I’m rather surprised of  the heavy emphasis on Hot Spots in DMR . Is this due
to limited availability of DMR repeaters in earlier times or is it the
availability of more Talk Groups when using a HS and a lower power HT?   I
still have lots to learn. Thanks Again.

I created my first code plug using online repeater information for the Houston
area.  I also included a couple of analog repeaters (6.94, 5.49)It appears the

145.47 repeater (now DMR) my nearest repeater from my Richmond (Pecan Grove)
QTH. So far  I so far have encountered these issues.

1.  I seem to be accessing the .47 repeater but there is no audio from ANY
repeater except for beeps.  Is this normal?

2. I have 14 repeaters programmed in memory but I am only able to knob-select
the first 8. In SCAN mode I can include all programmed repeaters in the scan.
Is this normal or an operator setting issue.

3. I am able to hear and access the analog repeaters that I programmed into the
code plug so I am at least  hearing something but nothing from DMR.

All help is appreciated.
