All,

On Saturday May 30 representatives of the Brazos Valley Amateur Radio Club,
Texas DX Society, Echo & The Katy Amateur Radio met to discuss Field Day
2020. With restrictions placed on large gatherings due to COVID 19 and
temporary waivers to Field Day rules granted by the ARRL the decision was
taken for each club to participate independently this year. Members of each
club will individual participate in Field Day in the manner they feel best
and submit scores to the ARRL and to their respective club. The ARRL will
aggregate each club's scores. Locally, the combined clubs will aggregate
scores for a friendly inter club competition. To facilitate each club
member's participation, there will be a series (one each week until Field
Day) of ZOOM Meetings to help each member to operate effectively. Various
topics will be covered, for example: how to set up logging software for
Field Day, operating practices, antennas, emergency power, etc. I have
been selected to host the first session. Please make plans to participate.
A meeting invitation is included in this e-mail.

The first session will cover:

1. Details of this year's approach

2. A discussion on selecting the best way to participate - choosing
operating modes, software, antennas, entry classification etc.

3. Collect input from participants regarding what is needed to help them get
prepared.

If you have questions please contact your Club's Field Day chairman.
