The low bands were really noisy early in the evening. Had I known that the low bands would get quieter around midnight, I would have taken a break early and saved some time. Instead I ran out of time when the low bands were less noisy. A rookie mistake for sure. Fortunately, I followed Dave’s advice and jumped on 10 and 15 meters at the start and picked up some needed multipliers. Also, tuned my home antenna for 160 meters and added some more multipliers.
