If you have a radio that is all mode on 2m, you can put up a simple loop
antenna and have a lot of fun on 2m SSB. Always people on in the mornings. A
simple effective loop is the "Delbert loop" (google it). Sammy, w5dpp sells
them at local hamfests.

Saw the same this morning. Farthest packet was from Mississippi to the
northeast and Mexico from the southwest.

Really cool site I heard of a few mornings ago; there’s a massive 2M band
opening right now just teasing north of us, it looks like APRS packets are
making it from the Woodlands all the way out past Nashville TN right now.
Confirmed send and receive, multiple stations. For those of us relegated to
2M/70cm, we can still DX when these openings occur, no fancy gear, nothing.
Just hit 146.52 simplex FM and hammer away. Happy hunting!!!
