Pointing to an article by Rick Hiller, from a few years ago, about what you can

I had a conversation yesterday with Kris Bickell, K1BIC, the Lifelong Learning
Manager at ARRL HQ, about licensing courses and continuing education related to
ham radio.  He mentioned, and it's been discussed amongst us BVARCians, that
there is a gap between that proud moment after getting a ham license and
actually using it.
Rick's article is a very nice reference, though to update, the ARRL is
promoting a new ham periodical "On The Air" and a variety of companion media
(podcast, blog, facebook) to help introduce the myriad of facets that are part
or partly of Amateur Radio.

Check it out.
Meanwhile, BVARC is gearing up for an activities session, once a month in 2021,
at the Bayland Park Community Center (where we do testing). The activity
session will be on a saturday morning mid-month, and can be styled to what
members, and especially new hams, may want hands on experience with. This might
include, soldering, kit building, actual HF on-the-air, contest logging,
programming HT's, etc.  Let us know your thoughts.
There will be a following email on the Ships, (I know, many have been
inquiring)...
