The ARRL RTTY Roundup is held on the first weekend of the year, and is a great
way to get your feet wet using RTTY.All that you need is a HF radio, some
software such as Ham Radio Deluxe, N1MM, or FLDIGI and some sort of antenna. You
don't need a amplifier, antenna the size of the Starship Enterprise and a tower
the height of the Empire State Building to to work the world on RTTY.I run 100
watts into a end-fed wire no higher than 30ft over a branch on the tree in my
back yard and back down the the top of my fence. With this modest setup, I
logged 318 contacts (Qs), worked 43 States plus DC, HI and PR, Canada: (BC, ON
and SK), and 7 other countries.
