and… there is insurance so that you can upgrade everything. I had a hit on a vertical 2m antenna atop my beam at 40 feet once. Took out radios, computer, treadmill and tv. That was when I decided to place ground rods 12 feet apart around 3 sides of my house and ground everything. Over next 20 years never had an issue again. Now at retirement house all grounded again. Trees are way higher than antennas.

I kinda dismissed it, as living in an HOA, no chance of having one. This last storm, Friday night, we experienced a nearby strike. Where to begin listing the damage.... AC gone, Internet modem burned up, every AC to DC converter gone, 1 computer toasted, garage door opener gone, sprinkler system control unit dead, multiple GFCI burned up. That's what we have found thus far. Good news, no one was hurt and the house wasn't on fire. The washer, dryer, dishwasher, stove and refrigerator are okay. I think the biggest hit was that I was rolling up a nice score in the WPX contest, and due to no Internet, I can't remote into my station in Ohio!! 73 de Jim - KE8G On Sat, May 29, 2021, 1:05 PM Scott Medbury via BVARC <[email protected]> wrote: > I have a friend who might be able help you.
