In my opinion, it sometimes gets better at the end of the year, when
new(er) issues come out and the previous are discounted to blow them out.
But 20% would cause me to jump if it was something I was interested in.
Being a new ham I found that the yearly handbook and also the arrl antenna
book were most helpful for me.  This is not to say that if they were 1 or 2
years previous versions they would be of drastically less use.  J-poles
haven't changed much in the last few years.

Also, it might take me 2 or more years to digest what those two books
contain.  Also consider that you get a download key with purchase of the
books that has much bonus information.
