Mark,

In keeping with the Drill simulating an outage situation, it would be valuable for all radio operators use their backup radio power solution for the week to see if it would last for 5 days.

*Simplex Skills Drill *

*Come one and all! On behalf of the Greater Houston Simplex Network we will conduct a simplex drill at 9:00 PM nightly from Monday (2/28) through Friday (3/4), and we invite the Houston radio community to join us for as we practice our simplex skills. *

*This drill is intended to simulate an outage situation lasting over a length of time where we may be without internet, phone and without key repeaters.*

*Assuming it is open, the net frequency will be:
146.540 MHz simplex, without tones.
In the event this frequency is occupied, we will attempt: 147.540 MHz as an alternate.*

*Key Information:*

 *

*All Radio Operators are requested to check-in for as many
evenings as they may be available. A large number of participants
is needed to help make this simplex drill successful.*

 *

*Check-ins will be recorded manually by Net Control. We will
not be using NetLogger for this drill.*

 *

*Operators are encouraged to record stations they hear to be
prepared the event a relay is needed.*

 *

*Operators should join with the best radio setup would have
available, but handy-talkies are welcome if that is all you have.*

 *

*Operators should be prepared to indicate if you can serve as a
Relay for your area. You will need a suitable radio and antenna to
do so. Participants are requested to listen for weak stations and
be prepared to relay their check-in.*

 *

*It will be essential to turn your squelch off or all the way down
to enable you to hear others.*

 *

*These nightly simplex nets will be called according to our script
    found on our website: *SimplexHouston.com
    <https://simplexhouston.com/>.

*Check-ins will be according to our defined Houston areas as
follows, so you should respond when your area is called.*

*Defined Areas:*

1.

/CENTRAL:/ Stations located inside the 610 Loop. (All other areas
    are outside the 610 Loop.)

2.

/NORTH-NORTHWEST:/ Stations located between the Hwy. 290 and the
    I-45 North.

3.
