I have several at the remote station and a few here in Texas, I like to err on the safe side and replace the batteries every year. Yes, it gets expensive, but not as expensive as making numerous trips to the remote station 1,400 miles away or having to bother my neighbors and friends to make a quick trip to the station and boot everything back up!
