I get these all the time from Nigeria. Take a look at the headers. You will find a time offset of the original email. You will find it is the Nigerian timezone. I once had someone try to nail me to send gift cards to the president of another organization. Of course he was a good friend of mine and we were talking on the phone when I received the email scam. So, I started a scam back. I started asking him/her all kinds of questions and then finished after a back and forth for a bit.... "Why didn't you ask me to get these for you when we were sitting on the sofa? We live in the same house."  Not true of course, but bam, scammer was gone. It was fun.

Now, I am the president of that organization and some of my people get those messages that I need gift cards. They know it cannot be as it would have to be approved by the board to spend that kind of money.
