It’s still flying high.
Every now and then we get some inconsistent reporting, so we get some bad data at times. But yes, it’s still doing well. Another in our group launched a balloon from the Johnson Space Center area earlier this morning, that has been dong some crazy flight patterns, like the one we launched Tuesday. https://aprs.fi/#!mt=hybrid <https://aprs.fi/#!mt=hybrid&z=13&call=a%2FAB5SS-12&timerange=604800&tail=604800> &z=13&call=a%2FAB5SS-12&timerange=604800&tail=604800 is John’s AB5SS Pico tracker. So plenty to watch for sure. If you want to see ALL the ham radio balloons currently in the air, here’s a quick link that you can zoom in and out on. https://amateur.sondehub.org/#!mt=Mapnik <https://amateur.sondehub.org/#!mt=Mapnik&mz=4&qm=12h&mc=37.54458,-83.18848&f=AB5SS-12> &mz=4&qm=12h&mc=37.54458,-83.18848&f=AB5SS-12 Always entertaining to say the least. 😊 Walter/K5WH From: Craig Coussens <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, June 29, 2023 2:58 PM To: [email protected]; 'BRAZOS VALLEY AMATEUR RADIO CLUB' <[email protected]> Subject: RE: [BVARC] Field Day Balloon is now over Georgia, the state not the Country Do we know if the balloon is still balloon-ing? One of the non-hams I showed it to just texted me and it does say the altitude is zero :( Maybe the Bermuda Triangle, hope not… Craig / K8CPC From: [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> <[email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> > Sent: Tuesday, June 27, 2023 3:51 PM To: 'BRAZOS VALLEY AMATEUR RADIO CLUB' <[email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> > Cc: Craig Coussens <[email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> > Subject: RE: [BVARC] Field Day Balloon is now over Georgia, the state not the Country The wind patterns are extremely strange right now. 😊 We launched another package earlier this morning, and it danced circles all over NW Houston today. I’m assuming that there is a high pressure over the state that caused it to fly in that circle pattern… Or maybe it’s under control of a sinister genius 😊 Craig Coussens IT Services & Support - [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> qbMax Network & Computer Support IT Security Azure Cloud Migration & Support Database Services Development e: [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> w: https://www.qbmax.com p: Katy/Houston: 832.295.0804 p: Austin: 512.535.6627 From: BVARC <[email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> > On Behalf Of Walter Holmes K5WH via BVARC Sent: Tuesday, June 27, 2023 11:29 AM To: BRAZOS VALLEY AMATEUR RADIO CLUB <[email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> > Cc: Walter Holmes K5WH <[email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> > Subject: Re: [BVARC] Field Day Balloon is now over Georgia, the state not the Country Don't pay too much attention to the altitude as it takes a few solid packets to create the accurate altitude. It's still over 49k right now. Working well.
