Depends on what you need....there are two way shops that do installs but they usually handle Motorola, etc professional lines .. Texas Bigfoot, owned by W5JSC on the NW side, BEARCOM with shops in Deer Park and I think N Houston proper, and some others...they bill pro rates so it may not be your choice...a new company, AirComm has a ham as their lead tech..met him at the hamfest ..not sure what the cost would be there...locally owned shops used to do CB and ham installs as side business but with corporations buying up independent shops that's gone these days....Eddie and his crew do great jobs at River Oaks Audio....his rate is likely less than the LMR shops but may be worth a phone call to check ...Holland Radio is on the south side of town..but haven't dealt with them in decades..Chris WB5ITT Sent via my Samsung Galaxy S10e, an AT&T 5G Evolution capable smartphone..so there! 😂 -------- Original message --------From: yeffel via BVARC <[email protected]> Date: 4/9/24 8:46 PM (GMT-06:00) To: BRAZOS VALLEY AMATEUR RADIO CLUB <[email protected]> Cc: yeffel <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [BVARC] local radio shop recommendations A bit off topic but what are the radio shops in Houston if you did want service? I have an FT-991 and if something were to happen to it, I would send it back to Yaesu for repair. They aren’t in the business of screwing over the folks who buy their radios.
