I'm not aware of any handheld radios ever being made in the USA. I dimly recall TenTec making a mobile radio a while ago, but I may be imagining it.

I think most of their new offerings are tribanders though.

Hunt on eBay for some used TK and TH series you might find something cool!

Motorola makes some but they’re more targeted to first responders/professionals. You can however program them to hit specific repeaters.
