John,

I would be glad to assist for an hour during the event.  I am committed to help with setup activities on Thursday, some morning activities on Friday and I have to take the General Test at 4 PM on Friday,  I am not sure I will be there on Saturday.  Mike may have something else, however I do have some electrical & electronic tech background training that might help at the tech table, however I have never worked with Ham Radio systems.

Kindest regards,

Greg

Will you need to take a break at the Hamfest.  Assisting at the Equipment Check Table is doing a good thing, is an easy activity, while relaxing and chatting with other hams.

The equipment check table allows potential buyers of used equipment the opportunity to see if it is alive and generally functional.  Our cliche' is "We check it to 3db above DOA."  Obviously, we have neither the equipment nor the time to check to factory specs, but we will do some basic checks.
Examples might include:
Power supplies - does it put out full voltage at a moderate load.
Receivers - can we hear anything with a wire antenna.  Do the major functions work?
Transmitters - does it put out power on "Keydown."  If it has a mic, does it appear to modulate.  Does the keyer work.
You get the drift.  It is not "rocket science."

Please consider volunteering for an hour or two (not necessarily consecutively) over the 2 day event.  Several volunteers are needed for each hour.
