Hello all. Im pretty old school... been a ham nearly 35 years... been around the hobby my whole life... and I am one of the many who give Baofeng a hard time for being an "elcheapo" radio... so I discovered this video today and thought it would be great to share... Alan Wolke is an engineer for Tektronics and has shared nearly 400 videos on everything from how to use a nanoVNA (beginner to advanced) to building antenna projects... He is great and a reputable source for information...in this video he puts a Baofeng UV5R on his spectrum analyzer and shares his findings on 2M and 70cm. Definitely worth watching.... Like me, you may find the results to be surprising.
Enjoy! https://youtu.be/CUSUEr6YGOw?si=SVnxmHHdlNHkBc1M "#393 Analysis of the RF characteristics of the Baofeng UV-5R Dual Band HT" 73/Chris/AC5CM [disclaimer and fun fact: My Outlook client is adamant on connecting Mark Reiter to this address even when I repeatedly delete it from the cache, so to Mark, this isn't explicitly directed to you, but I hope you are well, regardless.]
