I don't claim to be a long time friend nor even to know much about the inner workings of this man. He is gruff with sharp edges. I have disagreed with him more than once. But I have noticed that Hardwick works hard in the background the old school way. He will be accused of being unorganized and not follow through on things. If it is a well identified plan you seek he is not going to have a plan all laid out for you and in general he will not ask for your help doing something. He will get upset with you if you try to push back on him and that will result in you getting yelled at. If you are the type of person who shows up, takes responsibility for yourself and just does without needing to be coddled. Generally speaking Hardwick will let you do what you do. I have seen this trait in him more than once including my personal experience. When it is all over he will, like a man, call you on the phone and say thank you if it is in order. He may not think of everyone who contributed to thank them but you must ask yourself would you? He will attempt to send a thank you over email to the entire group in hopes of catching everyone he missed. One thing he will not do if he becomes displeased with you is call you on the carpet in a public forum like so many seem to take pleasure in doing to him.
