Hello, my fellow KJ5 class and any other new HAMs out there! I am
reaching out a helping hand.

The biggest issue I have had to date is getting my radio setup. SO
many numbers...

I have the TIDRADIO H3 and the Explorer QRZ-1. Cool little HTs, each
with a dedicated cult following. Got to love the cult! ;-)

Getting off the starting block has been a challenge. I have browsed
RepeaterBook and played with CHIRP and the factory software for the
HTs. All to no avail. What gives? NOTHING on the HTs.

Thanks to the kind and thoughtful guidance of Jeff W5JEF, I now have a
CHIRP config file of my own and successfully reached the 146.9400
repeater yesterday! Woo! Thanks Jeff!

As much fun as the past month has been, I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

If anyone wants to chat about training, first gear, first steps, next
steps, or anything else, please hit me up here or at my email:
[email protected]

(yes, go to outlook.com and register your callsign!)

Best regards,
Dan KJ5IZK
