10Band LLC received permission to modify its station WI2XNX, having
“successfully conducted a market trial evaluating the use of high-frequency
(HF) spectrum for the delivery of financial market data to external trial
participants,” the company said.

The modification will facilitate “evaluating the performance of upgraded
transmission infrastructure, including the deployment of more directional
antennas and higher-power transmitters, aimed at improving signal fidelity
and reach; and designing and testing a next-generation radio platform
optimized for encoding financial data, with the goal of ensuring reliable
communication across a wider range of ionospheric conditions.”

WI2XNX is authorized up to 385 kW ERP in nine HF bands at its Elburn IL and

stations. The license is “for experimental purpose only and does not permit
commercial service or market access,” the FCC noted, in applying 16
conditions to the experiment. “Market trial testing is limited to up to 50
participants. ...This operation is not permitted for stock trading.”

RCA Telecom has added a third transmission site to WO2XPY in West Chicago.
It comprises a 10 kW amplifier, three Yagi antennas including this one

“Grant of this application will serve the public interest because it will
allow RCA to determine maximum efficient use of HF spectrum as it works
toward developing a system for commercial use,” the company told the FCC.

(FCC rules do not permit commercial shortwave data transmission to foreign
points. *The Commission is still chewing on a Shortwave Modernization

WO2XPY is authorized to use 14 bands between 6 and 29 MHz. Running more
than 246 kW ERP in 14.35‒14.99 MHz – just above the 20-meter Amateur Radio
band – it is “not capable of transmitting station identification,” RCA told
the FCC. The Commission waived the station ID rule

as it typically does on request.
