Hearing none, again... So, with the full expectation that I was going to burn a hole in my circuit board, I set off to remove C24. It wasn't really that bad, but the nano-sized surface mount capacitor looks like a spec of dirt on the soldering iron... No way I am putting it back.
I started the process here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PES8uGIUP8Y&t=463s This guy does a really good job of showing the pinouts and such! The uSDX firmware is still maintained, with configurations for SEVERAL uSDX boards. It is available on GitHub: https://github.com/GW8RDI/uSDXOpen The Arduino UNO is used as an in-system programmer (ISP). They currently list for $13 at Micro Center, but I picked up a few for a lot less, back when my daughter was using them in her BSEE classes at UT. The Arduino IDE is a freely available, very simple cross-compiler IDE. The ISP program, or 'sketch', is compiled and loaded across the USB to the UNO. The updated uSDX+ firmware follows, being loaded across the USB, across the UNO, and into the uSDX+ flash! Pressing 'MENU' at power-up resets the system parameters to the compiled values. I added in my call sign, so I can tell this is my version! My most irritating bug is gone! Before, if I changed the band, I could go down to 6m and my system would be stuck there. That has gone away, as the uSDX+ doesn't even support 6 meters! ;-) On to the interesting world of HF! At long last, I can check to see if my 40m PIXIE 'soldering exercise' is transmitting!!! I am eager to hear from anyone with any of the uSDX varieties! You can see several of them here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3SF-0ApxCNg Any questions or comments, cheerfully received! 73 Dan KJ5IZK On Tue, Oct 21, 2025 at 8:17 PM Daniel Poirot <[email protected]> wrote: > Hearing nothing, more detail… > > I have collected the Ardunio and all necessary software bits.
