Also, at the meeting there was a guy named Robert who came solely because he
wanted to sell his Icom 7300. He was a quiet guy and didn’t seem to want VCX
Mike announcing his presence.. did anyone connect with him after the meeting
and welcome him?

I looked up the recent going price for the 7300 on SOLD items on ebay during
the meeting to share with him but I got distracted and the guy was gone by the
time I started to look for him.

A note on the Bienno - on the website, they often run buy one get one
promotions. Pretty much one every month in fact.

Also, they sell $150 gift cards for $100, so buy those and you get a 30%
discount on top of the BOGO.

It's WX5KR, that might be the problem.

Also a few notes on some questions I got last night:

The LiFePO4 battery brands I own include:

  *   Miady* (Amazon)
  *   Bioenno (bigger name brand)
  *   Redodo (Amazon)
  *   XZNY (Amazon)
  *   Dumfume (Amazon)
  *   TPE (Amazon)
They're all fine. If you expect to operate your battery at the extremes of amp
draw, cycle life, and/or capacity, then a "name brand" (e.g. Battle Born,
Bioenno) might make sense for you. But if you're ok with potentially getting 5%
less capacity, and aren't going to draw anywhere close to the max current
rating for more than a few seconds, the price just makes sense to buy these
cheaper brands (obviously just my opinion).

*Concerning the Miady battery "issues" discussed last night. It's not actually
an issue, but a battery protection strategy their BMS units had/have. Most
batteries will cut the voltage at the terminals once the battery is fully
discharged to protect the cells from damage, but once the load is removed, the
BMS will return the voltage at the terminals back to wherever it was (~12V).
The BMS on some Miady (and probably other) batteries (including my 20Ah unit)
simply cuts all voltage and doesn't "wake up" again until a small voltage is
applied. Many smart chargers don't have any voltage on their output until a
battery is connected (allowing it to determine the voltage 6V-12V-24V, and
sometimes the chemistry of the battery connected), but a regular "dumb" LiFePO4
charger will have a voltage on the output which will "wake up" the Miady BMS.
So it's something to be aware of, but not necessarily an issue if your charger
is compatible. Also my 50Ah Miady in my battery box -turns out- doesn't have
this *issue*, I actually tested it under load running my TV and surround sound
for nearly 3 hours and it cut out, but "woke up" after I disconnected the load.
So it's not universal with Miady.

Notes and links to the antenna and the *controller* for my ammo can Baofeng
crossband repeater:

  * Controller(I think the negative reviews are due to either the
input/output being reversed, or use error): https://a.co/d/dfGL4Zx
  * Comet CSB790A. I could not find anything about the ground plane, so
either I misremembered or imagined it (or it's on the packaging). But
regardless it does great SWR-wise on that small steel 30 Cal. ammo can.
  *   Small diplexer: https://a.co/d/cideYo1

Thanks and 73!
