Howdy, Last year, I posted about a little shopping I did with AliExpress. I have been playing with two of the items. Time for an update...
The first is a poor copy of the QRPGuys 'No Tune' EFHW adapter. The one I got was labeled "No Tune Eed Half Wava". These are possibly not native English speakers. The silk screen on the PCB listed the 20m half wavelength to be 28' 8". I started with about 30 feet and kept cutting shorter and shorter. I ended up around 25 feet before I got a match. I made a QSO with QRP to a POTA using about 2.5 watts. I linked another 20 feet of wire and made a QRP contact on 40 meters as well. The other item is thumb-size EFHW. The silkscreen on this one said 'JediKitty'. It came with no instructions, a toroid, some wire, and a SMC capacitor. I found the instructions for the KM4CFT End Fed Antenna kit. This kit uses the same components, so what could it hurt to try? I wrapped three turns for the primary and 21 turns for the secondary. I added the rest of the components and tacked on my 40 meter halfwave. My NanoVNA reports about a 1.01:1 match and about 51 Ohms of impedance. Amazing. Plenty of fun for under ten bucks! I also ended up with a 4:1 dipole adapter and a 15m to 40m EFHW adapter with a tuner. That kit is next. 73 Dan KJ5IZK
