The repeater is owned by the Pasedena Amateur Radio Club and the trustee has
gone SK, so regardless of legality, BVARC would not have any control over this
issue as they are merely users of the repeater. And before today, no one has
noticed for nearly 18 months.
If I was a betting man, Id bet things are probably in the works to right the
ship. As mentioned below, Texas VHF Society shows WR5AAA as the repeater
callsign so Id suspect its just a matter of someone getting access to change
the controller.
Stay tuned. 73/Chris/AC5CM

WR5AAA is the call sign on the 146.88 repeater.  Since the KG5EEO call expired
in 2024, that means it's been operating illegally since then!! If the license
had been filed for renewal before the expiration that would be fine but once a
license expires it cannot be used on air until it has been renewed..
Oops!

All,I became a lifetime member of BVARC last month and I did see the recent
emails of the unfortunate passing of Robert Polinski (KA5YVQ) on February 2nd
who was the trustee of the 94 machine.  I noticed the 146.940 repeater morse
code ID is KG5EEO which is a club call sign that Robert managed with the FCC.
You may already be aware of this, but I did want to let you know that the club
call sign (KG5EEO) expired in October of 2024.  (see screenshot below)
The club call sign is still in the 2 year renewal "grace" window and could be
renewed if desired by the club.
I also copied Michael, N5VCX, on this email as the call sign WR5AAA is the
coordinated call sign of the 146.940 frequency in Houston with the Texas VHF
Society.
I really enjoy the repeater activity and the content of the club and I look
forward to meeting some of you at the Hamfest this weekend.
Again, I apologize if you are aware of this issue and are already making plans
to address it.  I am not trying to be the callsign "expiration police", but I
would not want to see anyone get dinged down the road for using an expired club
trustee callsign on a repeater.
My condolences to Robert's family and everyone in the BVARC club for his
passing.....
73, Jerry Boyd (WR5G)
