BVARC Members,
As we look at our familiar club emblem today on the website and the newsletter,
it's easy to forget that there was a time when BVARC didn't have a logo at
all!Let’s take a trip back 48 years ago to March 1978. In the very first
edition of the BVARC Bulletin (Volume 1, No. 1), the club issued an official
challenge to its original 25 members to design the first club emblem.
Here is the original article, exactly as it was printed on a typewriter nearly
five decades ago:

CLUB EMBLEM HUNT STARTED

BVARC needs an emblem! Something that will identify the club on a jacket patch,
jacket back, QSL card, letterhead, or bumper sticker.

This is a project that EVERY club member can participate in. Bring your ideas,
sketches, or finished artwork to the March meeting, or mail them to the club
post office box.

Let's have a good showing of ideas. The selection of the final design will be
made by a vote of the members present at the April meeting. Don't worry about
artistic talent, just get your ideas down on paper. If your idea is selected,
we can get someone to do the finished drafting.

Start thinking now! What represents the Brazos Valley Amateur Radio Club?

It's incredible to look back at the very beginning when the club's identity was
just being formed. Stay tuned for more historical snippets as I dig deeper into
the digital archives!
