After an intial dry spell of good desktop oriented distributions, now we have an embarrasingly flush collection of good choices.
I have used and liked the various Ubuntu variations, including Kubuntu. I general, I prefer the Gnome desktop, but KDE systems always seem to be better stocked with applications for the desktop. Now, since MEPIS has switched from a Debian Sarge base to Ubuntu, it seems that its better than ever. http://www.desktoplinux.com/articles/AT6993936615.html Once committed to a setup for your operation, you can't readily switch distributions, and the process of testing, configuring and generating clone images means a lot of effort to change.
