Hello all, I dropped by ByteWorks today and snagged a bunch of CD-ROMs for testing. Had some trouble connecting/disconnecting the CD-ROM with FireWire under Knoppix 4.0.2 and 5.0.1, but had no trouble using USB. The test I created for the CD-ROM involves the following:
- open the tray - close the tray - mount a data CD - read a file from the CD - un-mount the data CD While the test doesn't cover everything, e.g. calculating an md5sum on the entire CD or testing audio, it gives us a good indication whether a CD-ROM clearly does not work.
