I'm familiar with Drupal and it's also a very good php-based CMS. Drupal was a very close second place for KDHX's website upgrades. We ended up going with joomla because it's a little easier to divide tasks among many users in joomla. As of Drupal 5.0, installation and maintenance in both Drupal and Joomla are equivalent - they are handled by php scripts that are part of the package. Both packages are just a collection of php scripts and html that integrate with MySQL and sometimes apache. You'd essentially just be using apt-get to download the package itself.
