- all the Linux graduate machines are ready for next Saturday. - a fair amount of sales were made. - some individual donations, a few of which were immediately priced and put in the shop window.
Still needed: - print up the Parents Handout/FAQ, 16 copies. It's a 6-page document (if possible run double-sided), on the yahoo groups website, in Open Office and .pdf formats: http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/bworks_shop/files/Parents-Handout_FAQ/ - print up the graduation certificates for each student - bring upstairs, test 15 keyboards/mice - gather up bags with keyboards/mice/cords/cables/headphones (not getting speakers this time) -- Robert may have done some of this in the last few weeks, not sure? - bring upstairs, test 15 monitors - photographer for the graduation photos (I'll bring in my camera) I think a parent asked about purchasing a second Linux computer. There are the two "backup" machines from the current batch, but both have odd problems, and I don't think they should be sent off until those issues are resolved. One is that sound re-mutes every time it starts up (can always show student how to un-mute the sound, would rather fix the problem). I think one of these machines may have a BIOS issue, it claims not to detect any hard disks, then goes into GRUB and boots up just fine (workaround involves pressing F1 or F2 each boot-up). There is another machine I labeled "needs work!" and put on a triage/repair workstation, which may be better to part out than to burn up time testing it. Depends on who feels like a challenge. Another former Linux graduate has had a parent purchase them a printer; they will bring computer and printer into the shop next week, hopefully one of the Linux volunteers will be able to take a look at it (most likely set up CUPS). See you all next Saturday! t. -- *** Propositions arrived at purely by logical means are completely empty as regards reality. - Albert Einstein ***
