I'm not familiar vitual box or your implementation, but I use VMware extensively professionally. VMware workstation is a pay for use license; however VMware player is free for personal use. I'm not sure of their stance for non-profits. VMware player has just been given the capability of creating virtual machines, but I don't think it supports cloning. I've been running my Windows as guest on an Ubuntu host for a short time with good results. I can keep you posted if interested.

The A/C fan is on slow in the classroom. - Some dweeb dumped trashed CRT monitors (cut cords, cracked cases) in front of ByteWORKS -- apparently the BikeWORKS folk put them in the reception area. - Adam Stoker from BikeWORKS swung by and I gave him a small Multisync monitor from the basement. He can't come by on Saturdays, and Alberto suggested he try on Wednesday night. He will call on Saturday after labor day and give you all his card number. Adult Classes: First the good news: I filled the adult class - we have 9 students, which allows for 1 bad computer. In fact I reached the end of the sign-ups for adult classes. There is a backlog of folks whom I could not contact (no answers) or who need Saturday Classes. The no answers typically never answer, and I scratch them from the list. Anyone who does not respond to a message in a call box get scratched. So the list is pretty short right now. So, we need more adults for the adult classes. The bad news: Windows in the virtual box needs someone to tend to it during classes, to keep technological glitches from distracting from class material. There is no problem that cannot be solved, but there are many problems (dead keyboards, no internet, not fullscreen, Kernel not compiled, etc. etc.). A rotating roster of instructors, such as we have will not be able to efficiently handle these problems efficiently, no matter how well I write up the solutions. I will be there for all classes but one. For that one, we will need help from staff.
