By the way, the Microsoft parser refuses to parse a document that contains
a namespace declaration for the prefix "xml", so you might want to avoid
it for the sake of portability.

A JIRA bug has been created for this issue
(http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/XERCESC-1441).
This bug may turn out to be a bit of a show stopper on whether or not we
use Xerces as our XML backbone. If someone can point me where a
namespace prefix can be resolved to the correpsonding URI, I'll gladly
take a look at it.
