I did gmake but an error occured.

toplevel Building
gmake -C /home/test/Documents/xerces2.7.0/src/xercesc/obj/LINUX -k
gmake[1]: target or makefile don't exist
I wonder followed things:
1. where is MAKE_FLAGS ?
2. what is $Q ?
3. why does the error exist?
