James Berry resolved XERCESC-1595:
----------------------------------

    Resolution: Fixed

Resolved in r408936.

Thanks for the bug report Scott. I added the [] around ranges as you suggest.
In the case of translation, this ends up working with POSIX tr, even though it
doesn't support that syntax directly: the [ and ] just get translated to
themselves, and so no harm is done.

> 3.0 nightly (May 22) configure fails on Solaris 10 due to invalid "tr" command

> I've had a variety of hurdles getting this to configure, mostly stuff that's
> Solaris headaches, but I did find a bug.
> There's a tr command used in the m4 macros that select the transcoder and net
> accessor. It works on Linux, but it won't work on Solaris without putting
> brackets around the 'A-Za-z' (e.g. '[A-Z][a-z]')
> See http://mail.gnome.org/archives/gnome-list/2001-August/msg00039.html
> The only reason I noticed this, BTW, was that configure auto-selected the ICU
> transcoder but the build failed because genrb wasn't available. It seems to
> assume that it will be without checking for it. This is a very basic Solaris
> x86 install, so there could be stuff missing, maybe, but it should still
> verify that the command exists if it's not always there.
