Hi Klaus,
we recently removed the precompiled 'configure' script in order to avoid
conflicts with a different version of the autotools package that could
be present in the system. So now you have to run the ./reconf script to
have it generated from your (now mandatory) installed copy of
autoconf/automake/libtool
Alberto
P.S. it would be better to send such requests to the c-dev mailing list,
so that a) others can benefit from the answer, like you did from the
archived mail you reference and b) you get higher chances to get an
answer from other committers/users as well.

Dear Mr. Massari,
we have found the very enlighenting thread about building xerces from

We have encountered exactly the same problem and wondered how to
obtain a runConfigure or configure script for a Linux build (Fedora
Core 7, gcc-Version 4.1.2 20070925 (Red Hat 4.1.2-27) ).
.
Our goal is to build the current svn version of Xerces-c as a static
library and to use it as a base for a static library of xalan-c (also
current svn trunk).
We have already succeeded in building Xalan-c and Xerces-c from the
current svn trunk as static libraries under Windows XP using Visual
Studio 2005 (VC8) with only minor changes to the build configuration
and preprocessor definitions.
Can you maybe provide us with a configure script (or a hint where to
get it) so that we can go ahead with the Linux build? This would be
very helpful.
Many thanks and best regards,
Klaus Engelhardt
