I have a valid XML instance that validates ok with 2.8.0 but fails with current
3.0.0. The simplified version of this test case fails on both 2.8.0 and 3.0.0
so I am not sure it is a regression. The bugs looks quite nasty (seems like one
of those cases where a wrong thing gets resolved and used) so we should try to
fix it for 3.0.0.
