Visual Studio 6 is pre-standard C++, meaning it can fail to compile
otherwise correct programs.
You should get a more recent compiler, probably the best would be
Visual Studio 2005 Express Edition, which is freely downloadable from
Microsoft, and adheres to the standards. Use it.
