I have no experience with VisualDSP++ and I don't think it is a 
Microsoft product (although, Microsoft has thousands of products, so it 
could just be one of the more obscure ones, but it appears to be by a 
company called "Analog Devices" -

As what you are asking for is for an embedded device, you are probably 
better off asking about Unicode development in a forum specific to 
VisualDSP++ and the device you are targeting.
