Since I tend toward Cartoon Network for my television entertainment
needs, I happen to be aware of this company. Leapfrog
(www.leapfrog.com) is, at the core, an embedded software development
company for children's toys. Based on what I gather, they are looking
to expand to PC-based software development. They have three (3)
positions available for intermediate and advanced C++ programmers. The
company will apparently do contract-to-hire OR direct hire.
While the recruiter didn't mention it, I would think one of the
requirements is a deep desire to teach children through educational
software. The quality of the work done would be a direct result of that
desire.

Position Overview:
We are looking for Software Engineers to help develop PC applications
that connect to our devices and to the web. The apps are written in C++,
utilizing the Qt software toolkit. This is a major effort for the coming
year, and we need to create a solid, extensible framework for future
applications to use.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, and document high-quality software in a timely
manner.
- Work closely with product team members inside and outside the
department during the development period.
- Define, estimate, and assist in planning task breakdowns for the
software work.
- Support existing products and content development teams.
Citizenship Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. citizen, greencard, or TN visa holder.
- No H1-B visa sponsorships
Education & Background:
- BS/MS or equivalent in Computer Science, Math, Physics, or Electrical
Engineering.
- 3-7 years C++/Visual Studio experience.
- A proven track record with either embedded C++ or PC application coding.
- Shipped at least one consumer PC application.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Strong UI sense.
- Good working knowledge of at least one scripting language (Perl,
Python, etc.)
- Desirable skills:
- QT experience a plus, but not required.
- Experience with Mac OSX programming a plus.
