ok I'm missing the OBVIOUS point.  MS has had bugs everywhere....someone 
ought to nuke IBM for the stupid \ crap
and MS for having any bugs relating to it (which version of NT by the 
way....it seems damned unlikely since they recognized either / or \ for 
decades
