You should probably focus on C++.  New code should be written in C++.

As to what you need to learn C/C++ "in depth":  Time, patience, a couple 
good books, and a good compiler suite.  You've probably seen posts on 
the latter two and the former two are up to you.  This group is here to 
help when you get stuck.
