Thanks for your response. Yes I am using the latest version of walker. I tried on c:\axis2c and I still got the problem. I found out that it is because there is a bug which stops it from distiguishing the forward and backward slashes. There was a fix provided which I downloaded it. the site is http://code.google.com/p/staff/wiki/InstallationManualWindows and it worked.
